There were a lot of big fish pulled through the ice during the 12th annual Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off last Saturday, making the annual event a huge success.
Participants from all over Manitoba, Canada, and the United States made for what is potentially the best turnout ever at the Falcon Lake Winter Fish-Off. In total 119 fish were caught and released back into Falcon Lake including 102 northern pike, 16 perch, and one walleye.
This year, the $10,000 fish was a beautiful 17.34lb northern pike landed by Kyle Fenning. This was the biggest fish caught in the tournament since the 20.02lb pike landed in 2010 by Mike Toews.
The Malak family also cleaned up, with Rob Malak taking second place with a 12.14lb pike. His son, Braden Malak, took third with a 10.06lb pike.
Although St.Amant’s total donation is still being calculated, the 50/50 was a whopping $12,465.00 which resulted in a $6,232.50 take home! All proceeds from bait sales also went towards St. Amant.
